Makena Resources Inc. (TSX.V: MKN) recently acquired the Patterson group of claims prospective for uranium. This Prospect consists of two claims totaling 3,014 hectares (7,447 acres), which are located in the Athabasca Basin directly bordering the recent discovery at the Patterson Lake South ("PLS") Prospect of Fission Uranium Corp. (TSX: FCU). MKN has also added to their team the lead geologist who found the Cigar Lake Uranium Deposit and Athabasca Basin expert, Dr. Karl Schimann.
Makena has completed an aggressive VTEM survey on the Patterson Lake South Prospect. The initial data returned results that show multiple conductive anomalies within Makena's Patterson uranium prospect. Two distinctive anomalous zones were encountered. The southern zone has three specific targets within the zone. The north target is a northwest-trending zone associated with a break in the formation in the direct vicinity of the conductive anomaly. A historic drill hole shows basement to be relatively shallow at 154 metres in depth within these zones.
Phase two of the aggressive work program on the Patterson Uranium Prospect has uncovered an intense gravity low and immediate follow-up work is planned to fully investigate this finding. Dr. Karl Schimann stated: "It is very encouraging to have the data uncover this strong gravity low. This low correlates with the VTEM data previously gathered and is associated with a structural lineament defined by the VTEM data. Nexgen's Arrow discovery is also located on a gravity low and demonstrates the potential of gravity as a tool for drill targeting."
The Athabasca basin hosts many world-class uranium deposits and management is encouraged by the findings to date on Makena's uranium prospect. As you can see, with immediate follow-up work being planned, MKN is entering a period of significant corporate growth potential.
